Week 26: Betsy Ross

I wish you could see the delicate floral print on this colonial dress. Betsy Ross was a young seamstress when she was approached by George Washington and others to construct a flag. Legend is that she suggested changing the star from one that had six points to the current five point star. There is a great video of how she easily can cut out a five point star, a technique she mastered while quilting. It’s a fascinating interview done at the Betsy Ross Home in Philadelphia https://abcnews.go.com/Travel/video/visit-betsy-ross-home-philadelphia-pa-40970532

Here is the paper I used for both the dress and apron

I hope you enjoy this glimpse into what Betsy Ross might have worn. I just couldn’t see her in a powdered wig and party dress sitting around sewing a fine seam.

This is great! Reminds me of a paper doll my nephew decorated as Betsy Ross with fabric and other items for a school project. ❤️
