Lucille Ball will always be Lucy, the star of the I love Lucy Show. Born August 6, 1911. She had a stage name for a short time, Diane Belmont. Her first movie role was in Roman Scandles with Eddie Cantor. She was also in a Three Stoodges short – Three Little Pigskins, in Marx Brothers Room Service and Roberta- one of our favorite Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies.
Lucille Ball married Desi Arnez and while the marriage wasn’t a happy one, later ending in divorce, they had two children and their own production studio Desilu Productions. Their studio was on of the first to film their shows with 3 cameras, and retain their rights to own the reruns. After her divorce Lucy was bought out Desi and became the first woman to be head of a production company.
Lucille Ball was a tasteful classy lady and it was so fun to watch her with all her hilarious hijinks whether is was scheming to be in her husband Ricky Ricardo’s performances ( Desi Arnez’s character in I Love Lucy) or while she was moonlighting in a chocolate factory with her best friend Ethel ( Vivian Vance). Vivan also co starred in The Lucy Show with Lucy playing a single mother and Vivan was her neighbor.
