Week 40: Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen Generes
Ellen DeGeneres, one of the nicest folks alive!

Ellen DeGeneres was in the news this week. She sat next to former President George W. Bush at an NFL game. She was attending a Dallas Cowboys vs the Packers game in Texas. Some people got very upset and Ellen’s response was that she can handle being friends with people that don’t share her same beliefs. In an era of angry haters and bitter tongued vileness, Ellen’s attitude of being kind to everyone is refreshing.

My kids love to watch The Ellen DeGeneres Show and see her zany antics, fun dancing and generous gifts. Ellen has a kind heart and a quick wit. She has received numerous awards including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ellen will always be known as the voice of Dory, in Finding Nemo.

One of Ellen’s latest endeavors is a fashion line partnering with Walmart. She previously founded an online lifestyle designer store called ED by Ellen. This outfit above has one change from the original, the shoes. While googling around I found these darling pink boots.. alas they were only available in kids sizes. I admit I have a weakness for boots… I’ll never forget the grey shortie boots I bought right before I met John, doe skin soft and slick bottoms for dancing… wish I could find a pair like that again.

Ellen’s wise counsel is one I believe we should all take.. Be kind to everyone. Be kind if they cheer for a different team than you. Be kind if they vote differently than you do. Be kind if they mess up and things don’t go the way you wish they had. I am not saying let people abuse or take advantage of you, or hurt you. Stand up, be civil and don’t judge at the drop of a hat.

always, Vickie
